Throughout the fall, #Fight4HER organizers and volunteers got out the vote for candidates who are committed to standing up and fighting for reproductive health and rights for everyone, everywhere. Now that Joe Biden and #Fight4HER champions across the country have won big, it’s clear that all of that work has paid off.
In total, 564 volunteers spent a collective 3,800 hours contacting over 30,400 voters. With so many close races that came down to just a few thousand votes, the hard work put in by our #Fight4HER volunteers had a real impact — especially in states like Arizona, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, which were critical to Biden’s victory. Here are some highlights from our work in key states:
In Arizona, our volunteers not only helped Mark Kelly beat anti-choice Senator Martha McSally (who was never even elected), but they got out the vote for Reps. Ruben Gallego, Raul Grijalva, Ann Kirkpatrick, and Greg Stanton, who all won reelection and will continue to fight for global reproductive freedom in Congress. The Mission for Arizona campaign even gave #Fight4HER a shout-out as an indispensable part of their big wins!
In California, our volunteers helped reelect #Fight4HER champions Reps. Ami Bera and Katie Porter. Katie Porter even launched a phone banking shift where volunteers were able to (virtually) meet her! Volunteers also worked hard to help elect Chris Bubser, whose race has not been called yet, but who has personally thanked #Fight4HER for all of our hard work.
There were also lots of victories in Colorado! Our volunteers helped kick Cory Gardner out of office, elect John Hickenlooper to the Senate, and got out the vote for #Fight4HER champions Reps. Jason Crow, Diana DeGette, and Joe Neguse.
In Ohio, #Fight4HER volunteers helped reelect Rep. Joyce Beatty, a fierce advocate for reproductive health and rights. They also helped build progressive power throughout the state by speaking to over 11,000 Ohioans throughout the fall.
In Pennsylvania, our #Fight4HER volunteers got out the vote for Rep. Susan Wild, who personally thanked the #Fight4HER for all the support during her campaign! Reproductive health and rights champions Reps. Madeline Dead and Chrissy Houlahan were also reelected.
Our #Fight4HER volunteers in Nevada worked around the clock to reelect Reps. Dina Titus, Steven Horsford, and Susie Lee. Volunteers attended a phone bank where Rep. Lee spoke and gave #Fight4HER a shout-out for all the work the campaign does for global reproductive freedom!
In New Hampshire, volunteers got out the vote for Senator Jeanne Shaheen, the original sponsor of the Global HER Act, as well as #Fight4HER champions Reps. Chris Pappas and Annie Kuster. All three won reelection and are ready to continue the fight for reproductive health and rights for all!
And in North Carolina, our #Fight4HER volunteers helped flip the 2nd district blue by getting out the vote for newly elected Rep. Deborah Ross. Our volunteers also helped Reps. Alma Adams and David Price win reelection.
#Fight4HER volunteers also helped reelect Senator Tina Smith in Minnesota and Virginia Reps. Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger, and built progressive power in Maine, South Carolina, Iowa, and Mississippi.
Thank you to all of the #Fight4HER organizers and volunteers who took the time to get out the vote. Together, we made a difference not only in this election, but for the future of sexual and reproductive health and rights in the U.S. and around the world.
