The Board of Directors of Population Connection Action Fund voted unanimously to endorse Angie Craig for election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota’s second district.
Unlike her opponent, Congressman Jason Lewis, Angie Craig will stand and resist Donald Trump’s agenda of cruelty. She will oppose his egregious assault on the health, autonomy, dignity, and opportunity of vulnerable people everywhere. She will fight for real solutions to the challenges that confront all of us.
Since his first days in the White House, Donald Trump has worked to undermine women’s health, empowerment, and rights everywhere. Here in the United States, he has supported the elimination of funding for teen pregnancy prevention; he has sought to undermine the birth control benefit in health insurance; and he has joined in the ongoing efforts to shut down Planned Parenthood clinics across the country.
Globally, he has imposed a radically-expanded version of the disgraceful Global Gag Rule; he has eliminated all aid to UNFPA; and he has proposed ending all family planning and reproductive health care assistance to the most vulnerable people in the world. The consistent theme of these policies is their gratuitous cruelty and complete lack of regard for the lives and health of women and families.
Jason Lewis has enabled every single one of these of dangerous policies — and more.
We need a more members of Congress who understand that investments in women and girls are critical to building a safer, healthier, more just world and country. We need more people who will fight for health. Who will fight for empowerment. Who will fight for rights. Angie Craig will. And we will fight for her.
