Population Connection Action Fund, the political arm of Population Connection and America’s population movement, announced today its endorsement of Deborah Ross for election to the United States Senate from North Carolina.
“Population Connection Action Fund is proud to endorse Deborah Ross for election to the United States Senate,” said John Seager, President and CEO of Population Connection Action Fund. “As a former state legislator, Ross has been a leader in defending women’s rights to access full reproductive health care and she has consistently worked to improve the lives of women and their families.”
While Ross has worked to protect women’s reproductive rights, her opponent has taken every opportunity to limit women’s access and freedom to make their own choices. He is an anti-abortion fanatic who has voted against funding for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and abortion services in the U.S. He has supported severe limitations on women’s access to abortion. He has co-sponsored a bill making it illegal for minors to transport across state lines for an abortion and worked to make abortion after 20 weeks illegal. He has also voted to prohibit embryonic stem cell research, and limit comprehensive sex education programs. In contrast, Ross has taken a bold stance against all these restrictions on women’s reproductive rights.
“Ross is dedicated to pushing for progress and protecting women’s reproductive rights and we are proud to stand with her,” added Seager.
