WASHINGTON, DC – Population Connection Action Fund, the political arm of Population Connection and America’s population movement, announced today its endorsement of Angie Craig (D-MN) for election to the U.S. House of Representatives.
“Population Connection Action Fund is proud to endorse a champion for progressive values,” said John Seager, President and CEO of Population Connection Action Fund. “Angie Craig has not only defended women’s rights to choose, but has also been an outspoken advocate against all forms of discrimination throughout her career.”
Craig has pledged to fight hard for reproductive freedom for women everywhere, equal pay, marriage equality, dignity and opportunity for families living in poverty and policies to ease the threat of climate change. Her opponent, Jason Lewis, on the other hand is an extremist right wing talk show host who never passes up an opportunity to include and demean vulnerable people. Lewis has argued against abortion rights- even for survivors of rape and sexual violence. He has called young women voters “ignorant” and “non-thinking” and he has opposed marriage equality. He has also questioned whether the ending slavery was a legitimate government action.
“Criag promotes inclusion and solutions, while Lewis has insulted and marginalized the most vulnerable groups in our communities time and again. The choice is clear and we are proud to stand with Angie Craig in her campaign to represent Minnesota in Congress,” said Seager.
