Population Connection Action Fund announced that it has endorsed Jason Crow for Congress from Colorado’s 6th District.

Brian Dixon, Sr. Vice President at Population Connection Action Fund, said, “Jason Crow has spent his career working to improve the lives of people in his community. After serving in the Army, he helped promote the repeal of the dehumanizing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy and worked to improve veterans’ health care and end veterans’ homelessness. Unlike Mike Coffman, who has been a willing participant in the cruelty masquerading as policy coming out of Washington, Jason Crow has always – ALWAYS – fought to make life better for people. When he’s elected to Congress he’ll fight for people throughout Colorado, across the United States and around the world. And he’ll start by supporting the Global Health, Empowerment and Rights (HER) Act to rescind the disgraceful Global Gag Rule.”

The Republican majority in Congress has aggressively promoted an agenda of casual cruelty. The Global Gag Rule is shuttering health clinics in the poorest parts of the world. The refusal to release aid to the United Nations Population Fund denies crucial maternal and reproductive health care to people in desperate circumstances. The ongoing attacks on Planned Parenthood threaten to deny millions of Americans the health care they need. The continued effort to undermine the Affordable Care Act could strip away protections for people with pre-existing conditions and others struggling to pay for care.

“Global leadership is about more than having the more powerful military,” says Crow. “It’s about setting an example for our neighbors, and promoting practices that make the entire global community healthier and more prosperous. The Global HER Act would do just that – and I look forward to supporting it in Congress.”

Dixon added, “It is time for a Congress that will stand up to the shortsighted, misguided cruelty of this administration. It is time for a Congress that will stand up for the victims of human rights violations, not the violators. It is time for a Congress that will fight for the rights of all people to choose their own futures. Jason Crow will stand up and fight for health, empowerment and rights for people everywhere. We are proud to stand with him.
