Population Connection Action Fund has endorsed Joe Crowley for re-election to Congress from New York’s 14th District.
Brian Dixon, the Sr. Vice President at Population Connection Action Fund, said, “Since the day he arrived in Congress, Joe Crowley has been a fighter for progressive action and a champion for vulnerable people everywhere. He has opposed gag rules on reproductive health care no matter which president or member of congress has proposed them. Today, he stands firmly with the people around the world whose health and lives are threatened by the disgraceful policies put forth by the Trump/Pence administration. His voice and his leadership are key to reversing the Trump/Pence agenda of cruelty.”
Rep. Crowley is a co-sponsor of the Global Health, Empowerment and Rights (HER) Act that will reverse the disgraceful Global Gag Rule. He has long championed support for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and its work to ensure that reproductive health care, contraceptives and the rights of women and girls are expanded and protected. He is fighting against efforts to deny care to the millions of Americans who rely on Planned Parenthood clinics.
Crowley says, “I’m proud to have Population Connection Action Fund’s support. I have seen firsthand the need for U.S. investment in family planning and reproductive health care around the world. It is key to improving lives, expanding opportunities and building more stable, prosperous families and communities. I’m committed to continuing my fight – with Population Connection Action Fund – to defend reproductive freedom everywhere.”
Dixon added, “It’s time for Congress to stand up to shortsighted, misguided cruelty. It’s time for Congress to stand up for the victims of human rights violations, not the violators. It’s time for Congress to stand up for the rights of all people to choose their own futures. Joe Crowley, has always stood up to fight for health, empowerment and rights for people everywhere. We are proud to stand with him.”
