Population Connection Action Fund announced that it has endorsed Madeleine Dean for Congress from Pennsylvania’s 4th District.

Brian Dixon, the Sr. Vice President at Population Connection Action Fund, said, “In her four years in the Pennsylvania House, Madeleine Dean has been a champion of policies to improve the quality of life for people throughout the Commonwealth. And she has made clear that she will be a voice for the vulnerable people who are being threatened by the policies of the Trump-Pence administration.”

The Republican majority in Congress has enabled Donald Trump’s agenda of casual cruelty. His Global Gag Rule is shuttering health clinics in the poorest parts of the world. His refusal to release aid to the United Nations Population Fund is denying crucial maternal and reproductive health care to people in desperate circumstances. His ongoing attacks on Planned Parenthood threaten to deny millions of Americans the health care they need.

Dean says, “The Trump and Pence agenda is making life harder and more dangerous for vulnerable people everywhere. Their policies are shuttering health clinics around the world, and now, they’re trying to bring the Global Gag Rule to Pennsylvania. I am committed to fighting every day for a woman’s right to choose, and to ensure safe access to women’s health services worldwide.”

Dixon added, “It is time for Congress to stand up to this shortsighted, misguided cruelty. It is time for Congress to stand up for the victims of human rights violations, not the violators. It is time for Congress to stand up for the rights of all people to choose their own futures. Madeleine Dean has made clear that she will stand up and fight for health, empowerment and rights for people everywhere. We are proud to stand with her.
