Population Connection Action Fund, the political arm of Population Connection and America’s population movement, announced today its endorsement of Scott Peters (D-CA) for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Peters earned a 100 percent score on the Action Fund’s 2015-2016 Congressional Report Card.
“Population Connection Action Fund is proud to endorse Rep. Peters, a strong advocate for women’s rights, for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives,” said John Seager, president of Population Connection Action Fund.
Rep. Peters has not only fought for pay equity and ending discrimination against women, but has also been an advocate for access to safe abortions, contraceptives and family planning. He has co-sponsored the Access to Birth Control Act and the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2013 in defense of women’s reproductive freedom. He has also cosponsored legislation to prevent the future imposition the Global Gag Rule, provide support for safe abortion care, and ensure that sexual and reproductive health were incorporated into humanitarian emergency responses. The Global Gag Rule prevents overseas organizations that receive U.S. funding from discussing or mentioning abortion to patient, even when requested by women or allowed by law.
“Rep. Peters has been a champion for women’s reproductive health and rights and we are proud to stand with him,” Seager said.
