This bill and the rhetoric we’ve heard to support it make clear that Republican leaders have nothing but contempt for the Americans they were elected to serve.
If it weren’t so infuriating, and so threatening to the well-being of so many, it would just be sad that these so-called public servants wake up every morning thinking up new ways to make people’s lives harder and more dangerous.
It wasn’t enough to allow coal companies to dump their toxic mining waste into streams further threatening our water supply? It wasn’t enough to eliminate the most basic protections for transgender students just looking for a safe environment in which to learn and thrive? It wasn’t enough to attack health clinics serving girls and women in some of the most dangerous places in the world? Now they’re pushing a bill to take health coverage away from tens of millions of our neighbors, our families and our friends and making it more expensive for tens of millions more? And deny people the right to use a provider they rely on because right-wing ideologues simply don’t like that provider?
