Young people in college today and recent graduates face a raging pandemic that has led to depression-era unemployment levels. At the same time, they face the prospect of entering this disastrous economy while carrying a crushing debt burden that is causing both physical and mental health crises. And it’s causing some young adults to delay seeking medical care and put off the purchase of medications. This burden undermines true reproductive freedom and, indeed, threatens to undermine it forever. If cruise lines and corporate executives can be bailed out by the government, students can have their loans forgiven. And they should.
