#Fight4HER Defends Reproductive Rights Four Years After the Overturning of Roe v. Wade
Written by Janel Forsythe, Advocacy Communications Specialist | Published: June 26, 2026
For nearly 50 years, Americans in every state had the constitutional right to an abortion under Roe v. Wade. During that time, a politically-driven anti-abortion movement formed and grew in scale and influence, chipping away at reproductive rights both domestically and internationally by swaying court appointments and state and national elections.
On June 24, 2022, the conservative Supreme Court, stacked with three new right-wing justices appointed by Trump, overturned Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Four years since this ruling, 13 states have implemented total abortion bans. Another 28 states have imposed gestational limits for abortions.
#Fight4HER is fighting back against increasingly hostile policies by mobilizing communities on the ground to protect abortion and bodily autonomy.
Community Roundtable in North Carolina

#Fight4HER and Planned Parenthood South Atlantic cohosted a community roundtable to discuss how the overturning of Roe has impacted people living in the Research Triangle.
Over the past year, North Carolina has experienced the country’s largest increase (36%) in people seeking abortions at Planned Parenthood clinics. One in five abortion patients at Planned Parenthood South Atlantic clinics (located in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia) are now from out of state.
Richeline Cadet, #Fight4HER’s North Carolina Organizer, talked about the global impact of domestic anti-abortion activism with attendees. The Trump-Vance administration’s destruction of USAID and drastic reduction of funding for global health has reversed years of progress toward expanding international family planning.
“We concluded the evening by writing over 50 thank-you cards to abortion providers in the Research Triangle and invited participants to join us for Out! Raleigh Pride. Many of the participants also signed our #Fight4HER pledge and will continue to engage with our campaign in the Research Triangle as we organize for impact in the midterm elections.”

Rally and Press Conference in Nevada

In Nevada, #Fight4HER partnered with Indivisible Las Vegas, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada (PLAN), Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada, and Institute for a Progressive Nevada (INP) for a rally and press conference.
Kyle DeVasier, #Fight4HER’s Nevada Organizer, opened the event with remarks on the impact of abortion restrictions and broader political attacks on reproductive health care. Brenda Rodriguez of Reproductive Freedom for All Nevada emphasized the importance of passing Question 6, a ballot initiative that would enshrine abortion access in Nevada’s state constitution. Dr. Jshauntae Marshall, also a doula, shared her perspective on the current landscape of reproductive health care. Val Thomason of PLAN concluded the program with a personal account of her recent abortion experience.
Members of the press were there to cover the event — Kyle spoke with reporters from the Las Vegas Sun, KLAS 8 Now, and Fox5 Vegas!
“We are here today to say that reproductive freedom is more than just health care; it’s about economic security, gender equality, and the right to decide our own futures.”

Evening Vigil in Arizona

In Tucson, #Fight4HER cohosted a moving vigil with the University of Arizona Women and Gender Resource Center, LGBTQ+2s Resource Center, and Lotus Lounge Student Space to honor those impacted by the loss of reproductive freedom.
Students, advocates, and community members gathered to share and reflect on remarks about Arizona’s post-Roe landscape. It was a harrowing reminder of how deeply personal attacks on reproductive freedom are.
Kat Stratford, Arizona’s #Fight4HER Organizer, was moved by attendees sharing photos, flowers, and other items in honor of family and friends on the vigil’s ofrenda and brought her own items as well.
“I included a childhood photo of my transgender son as a reminder that the fight for bodily autonomy and abortion access extends beyond women’s rights. I also displayed a photograph of the Virginia maternity home where my biological grandmother was forced to surrender my mother for adoption in 1947, alongside a brick I salvaged from the building before it was demolished. For me, these weren’t just historical artifacts; they were reminders that reproductive freedom has shaped my own family’s story across generations.”
– Kat
Kat says that she left the vigil feeling grateful to our partner organizations, inspired by the stories people shared, and more committed than ever to continuing the fight for reproductive freedom in Arizona and around the world.
From the Research Triangle to Las Vegas to Tucson, #Fight4HER is not backing down. Reproductive rights continue to be on the line for countless people both in the United States and abroad.
