International Safe Abortion Day: A Conversation With Abortion Providers

Wednesday, September 28, 2022, 8pm EDT/5pm PDT

Overturning Roe v. Wade caused ripple effects felt by abortion providers all over the United States. Health care workers in states with abortion bans can’t offer a full range of reproductive health care to patients, and providers in states where abortion is still legal are seeing an influx of patients traveling from states with bans, straining sometimes limited resources.

We commemorated International Safe Abortion Day by hosting a conversation with reproductive health care providers from different regions in the U.S. to discuss how their work has changed since the ruling.

  • Keith Reisinger-Kindle (Dr. R-K), an Assistant Professor and the Associate Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wright State University in Ohio
  • Christie Pitney, CNM, WHNP, the Provider Coordinator for Plan C, which helps provide women with self-managed, at-home abortions, and an advanced practice midwife with Forward Midwifery, serving patients in California, Colorado, Oregon, and Massachusetts
