This important and timely presentation covered how the results of the 2024 election could affect the future of reproductive rights and the potential impacts on access to family planning both in the U.S. and globally.
Currently, an estimated 257 million women who wish to avoid pregnancy are not using modern contraception, and nearly half of all pregnancies are unintended—issues that our mission seeks to address through education and advocacy for safe, voluntary family planning services.

Population Connection Communications Manager Hannah Evans sat down for an interview to speak on the amazing work that California Black Women’s Health Project does for Black women in California as well as the intersection of their work with Population Connection. Sonya addressed systemic barriers to health care access for Black women, while introducing concepts and solutions for Black women across the nation. She tied in historical background to provide further evidence of the issues within our current systems and broke down how we got here and how we move forward for a better future, a better planet, and a better humanity.
April is Minority Mental Health Month. Panelists talked all about reproductive rights worldwide, and how they are challenging social margins in the Global South. They also discussed the implications of harmful policies like the Global Gag Rule, as well as what’s happening on the ground in places like the Caribbean and Latin America.
Multiple experts shared their perspectives on the fight for LGBTQ+ reproductive health and rights both locally and globally.
During this event, experts discussed the connection between population, reproductive health, and climate resiliency from the lens of Latin America and East Africa. Topics included climate change, water requirements of food, population growth, the reproductive treadmill, community action, carrying capacity, and more.
With a keynote speech from Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, the event discussed pushing forward a straightforward agenda on international reproductive health policy with experts and advocates around the world.

They learned about what they can do to fight back against the expansion, and how to help get out the vote in November to elect reproductive rights champions to end Trump’s deadly policies once and for all.
